Our goal is to offer programs that encourage growth, promote independence and foster responsibility. Children, adolescents, adults and older adults can benefit from these services.
Behavioral Support Services
With a grant from the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration, Humanim provides free community based behavioral support services throughout the Central Region of Maryland. Licensed psychologists and professional staff trained in Applied Behavior Analysis provide behavioral assessment/consultation, in home behavioral supports and emergency room crisis evaluation (upon request of DDA).
For individuals with disabilities who need a more supportive habilitation and vocational training environment, Humanim offers day services in Howard County and Baltimore City. Support can vary from a 1:1 ratio to a group setting. Professional staff provide transitional and rehabilitation support based on each person's individual plan. All programming focuses on transitional and rehabilitation support, behavioral support, and self-determination.
Individual Support Services
Humanim’s Individual Support Services works with over 125 consumers living independently in their homes by teaching a variety of daily living skills and opening the door to both community and peer integration. Our rehabilitation team works closely with families to ensure that the services we offer to our customers are tailored to the individual’s unique situation. In addition, our in-house case management team is trained to identify vital, life enhancing social recreation and service oriented resources. Humanim wants to open the world up to the individuals we work with while giving the community at-large an opportunity to interact and learn more about the people we serve. This program is funded by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration.
Brain Injury Services
Humanim’s Brain Injury Services provides residential rehabilitation, case management, housing, and support services to individuals with acquired brain injuries. These individuals are provided care twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. Services are provided in one of our six residential sites which include single family homes, townhomes, and apartments. Each residential site has counselors trained to teach independent living skills and care for the needs of our residents. Services and rehabilitation opportunities are also conducted in the community. These services include; grocery shopping, banking, health and medical appointments. The residents also participate in many recreational opportunities offered by Humanim and within the community. The goal of the program is to have individuals learn to live as independently as possible. The program is funded by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration, the TBI Waiver, and private insurance.
